Our home for the next month is not actually in Portland, but across the Columbia River, in Vancouver Washington (our 10th state on this trip!) We figured we would have no problem booking an RV park in Portland proper. A few days before leaving Eugene we started to call around to the numerous RV parks in the area, and found nothing in the near vicinity! Turns out there was a Barber Shop Harmony Society convention going on, and those folks had everything booked solid.

Portland, Or |
We have decided to park here for a full month for several reasons. One is that we were slightly tired of being on the road full time, and wanted a period of time where we could establish some kind of routine. The other reason was that there are loads of things to do around Portland, and within 100 miles of Portland, and if we park the trailer and go by truck alone, we can explore easier and see more places.

View of Mt. Hood from Portland |
While here we plan to visit Portland, the Columbia River Gorge, Mt. Hood, Mt. St. Helens, and the Oregon coast west of Portland. There are several events going on in town that also sound interesting: the North American Organic Brewer's Festival, the Waterfront Blues Festival, Portland International Beerfest, and Oregon Brewer's Festival (are you catching the drift here? Portland is known for its craft beer).
I believe we should have no problem keeping ourselves entertained for the next month!
Happy Portland exploring,
M.
